ok. so we are a pretty big and diverse group with a lot of knowledge and bits... but..
i know one guy up the street with a couple of dubs who aint on AVD. and another guy with a 20m by 15m shed with buggies, kombies, bashers, baja kits, a CB, ect who for some reason shuns the net. too busy doing "it" i spose.
then there's the weird guy out on the highway that takes his split single cab to town once a fortnight and is working on his split dc, not to mention the hundred other incomplete projects inside and outside. he's always good for parts tho.. at a price..
then there's the rare and revered old guy with "a shed full VWs, a couple of country buggies, perfect splits, ovals, you name it. depending on who you talk to he has it.
also havent traked down the guy with the imaculate orange bay micro auto nor the guy i sold my old beetle to as a baja project, nor the guy with the funnny accent and the yellow split, nor the dude with the immacualte bay beige campmobile with camper windows that gets around town, nor the guy with the red manx, the blue tiapan, oh and the maroon tiapan and the red kalita, the red 68 bug with racing stripes, the rusty super that bumped the cop car at the crosswalk....
man...:jesus
seems alot of veedubbers have slipped through the net... whats your story, how big could AVD really be...
I WILL CONVERT THEM ALL.... eventually...
or the guy with the red stock 1500 who jumped out to fix his motor at the lights...
There are many still out there that don't have an
AUSSIE VEE DUBBERS Sign on their rear window etc....
I kick myself every time a see a nice VW [air cooled of course]
and i don't have my camera with Me....
I just spent a few weeks in a Sydney Hospital....
and the last week I went to chatswood a few times to use Internet Cafes... and saw the odd Beetle or Kombi roaring along with all the other nameless cars.....
and I then wonder, is that someone from Aussie Vee Dubs??
I'll never know...... 🙂🙂
There are about 7 or 8 locals [in 30 km radius] who I know don't have access to computers and Aussie VeeDubbers...
but they still love their Beetles and Kombis.....

Actually, someone with a laptop could have been at the VW Nationals showing the non-computer people about Aussie Vee Dubbers.... and computers... or
Maybe there are many VW owners with computers and still don't know about Aussie Vee Dubbers.....
Its time they were shown the Light 🙂🙂
Go Get 'em ........

Most of the truly eccentric VW geniuses from a by gone error are probably still struggling to see a PC let alone find the on/off switch.
same here up the road a bloke who grows coffee beans has a split kombi
in for resto at the moment as well as 6 beetles a couple are ovals, i know of
a bay being redone on the way to nana glen from here not far & at emerald theirs this guy with 4 beetles in his front yard doing one up now.
theirs alot around as you say dont even know about avd & what it has to
offer, one more thing i brought this up two weeks ago today about the ppl
registering & copped a bit of a slag off for my troubles but in fear of putting myself in the firing line again 200 ppl have register since friday
6/ 05/05. (i was slagged for this but i didnt say anything about other post
example "what do you think of tim webster" amongst others :jesus)
Or even on the run up to dubs by the pub each year, over 300 enthusiasts on the road heading north from Brissy, and you still see stacks of VW's heading the other way oblivious to the fact there's a show on.
:blah

but that's because like most people who own cars they dont care about the type of car they drive.... not an enthusiast as such..

When We are travelling 330kms to the VW Nationals at Easter..... as We don't know much about where We are going... We usually follow a VW kombi or Beetle when We are close to the area.... Mostly, We find the car We are following isn't going to the nationals at all.....
They probably don't know its on....
or just drive a VW because they always have etc ...
so Now We look for an older VW on Historic plates....
they ARE usually going to the Nationals.....

I would take a guess and say that this site only reaches about 10%-20% of the enthusiasts around OZ.
There are over 100 in our club and only about 6 visit this site.
I have met loads of VW drivers and they are not interested in this site.
Look at the amount of members from S.A, there are about 10 if that, we have 2 clubs here so that is over 200 enthusiasts
So thats about 5%.
A lot dont bother and just want to do there own thing, its up to them.
Dont think that what goes on here is what everyone else is doing, we are just a small section.
Cheers
Dave
yeah well each to their own
a lot of ppl would of still never heard of this site and may get dicouraged by having to apply first then see what its all about..
damn contemporary doo-gooding society.. was definatly easier to browse the board as a visiter before the commitment..
but you know we will never know if this could be as huge as it could be..
then again would we want that?
i dont know.. im just happy with my lot and da ppl ive met from the site..
as long as we agree on 'long live the VW!' it all good

Yes there are a lot of VW PPL that have no interest in this site. But I have found more stuff for my resto's than some of my VW friends have found in decades of searching swap site's. And the info available at the touch of a key is invaluable. I have also met PPL from all over the world. I think it has been a great thing for me!

I know quite a few people that scour swap meets and say they would never go online for anything. Same goes the other way. You can take advantage of both worlds if you really want to.
I know HEAPS of vw owners that have only recently gotten on this site, and when they do their eyes are opened at heaps of stuff... reality prices, events, technical stuff, whos who and so on.. There's a lot to learn here hey? Some people can live in the past pretty easily.
