I own two 71 panel vans, both of which are quite different. One of them has the walk trough style seats, while the other has a bench seat with solid metal panel behind. the spare tyre also sits under the bench seat.

Just wondering if there are diferent specs or models???

sounds like one is a panel based on the kombi and the other is a 'real' panel. hte one with the walkthrough will probably also have plugs in the floor for seatbelt and seat mounting, whereas the other will have none of this.

VW offered many options on on the T2's (or bay window), from single cab's right through to full deluxe bus's.
Both could well be factory original panel vans without the seat mounts Baybuscamperkid mentions. That's what my '72 panel was (walk through and a "real panel"). There were numerous other options like double sliding doors or a single window in the sliding door, high top roof (also with taller sliding door), under floor stiffening to mention a few. I think some also had heavier torsion bars to carry an additional 200kg pay load.
Not many of these options made their way here though.
😉

Oh, the best way to tell is the chassis number. The first few numbers determine the year and what it was.

Also under the dash should be a plate stamped with "M" codes. The M codes determines the options added to the basic chassis number.

"loafy" is a '71.
she's a walkthrough.
factory seat anchors.
factory panel with proper pressings etc. as you'd expect from the factory.
low blinkers, small tail lights, factory disc brakes.
I think she's for sale again?
