Hi I found a beat up blue beetle at the wreckers yesterday and was wanting some opions.
Sorry I don't have any photos but I will describe as best as I can remember.
Shitty dark blue paint, no really bad obvious body rust, but think it has been hidden under paint. Floor pan rusted under both front seats and battery. No brakes. No bumpers. No deck lid. Parts car only.
Has Engine number 126A-192## which I believe is a old 1600 industrial motor. Single port with aftermarket electic fuel pump ( the origal is broken). It ran but not idle
It is a standard bug with ball joint front end. But I can not make sense of the chasis number (1976882##) I first thought (1076882##) but the complience plate suggests a 9. I think it is a mid to late 60s bug.
They want $500 for it. I told them they were dreaming.

What do you think it would be worth?
I want all the running gear, anybody interested in the shell, doors, glass, lights, ignition etc. to reduse cost.

Thanks Brett

My mate bought a clean, straight, round-screen, never-any-rust Super Beetle a few weeks ago for $500. It simply needed a clutch - now his daughter is learning to drive on it.

Ironically, a good engine is sometimes worth more than the care it came out of. Maybe just buy the parts you need and leave the car...
