definitely Mexican. And useless. Apparently, and this is just what I've been told, they don't comply with ADRs. That would be why he's had it in storage for 19 years. It's a very expensive curio.

I say this coz there were a bunch of people interested in late mexican bay window kombis, but they had the same issue. No ADR compliance and therefore, no chance of rego.

Besides all that, Mexican 1600s come with a cast crank rather than a german forged one I think, plus a bunch of other little things that make them not nearly as good as german cars.

Interesting how the seller doesn't say that it doesn't comply with the adrs. Imagine the poor fella (who isn't too sure about the adrs and compliancing) who forks out 29k and realises he can't drive it cause its unregisterable.

sigh. Oh well.

I think you will find this is the car that Beetle Wreckers purchased in 1986

Its an 86 Mexican or Brazilian Beetle, ( carnt remember which one ) purchased by Grahame. He has a bug from 46, 56, 66, 76 and got this one to make the set. That was when the rumor was around they were closing the plant

It would only have a few miles on it from being mooved around.
I read it on FACEBOOK so it must be true

this car is a brazillian bug notice how it has the small window turret that stopped her in 1967 i saw it years ago at beetle wreckers at brookvale (now closed) in their showroom it also had square guages in the dash. mexico got the bigger windows in the late 60s fermans at peakhurst used to import brand new bodyshells and pans for these and bay window shells as well !!
notice how a lot of brazillian parts arent that good I bet the whole car isnt worth $29000 either especially when you cant register it😉

Yeah it's the old Beetle Wreckers car. Got some pics of it from 1986 somehwere in a box. I'll try and dig them out. I think it was Brazillian - and there was a magazine article on it too.
