Hey guys,

I just bought a 64 Karman Ghia for resto, and really like the look of the front grilles of the earlier lowlight ghias. Does anyone know of repro front grills and body panel sections that I could use to replicate the early look. I know the grille openings are different and envisage some cutting and welding, which doesnt really bother me to be honest.

Any ideas????

Cheers,

Steve

A hell of a lot more complicated and not to mention expensive...the headlights are lower too. It doesn't look right if you only do the grilles. Taillights are smaller/rectangular...

To "replicate" the low light look you need to lower the headlight buckets, which would take quite a bit of work. The grills would require some shaping however the body work would not be too hard (for someone experienced) sorcing the grills might take some time.

Has your '64 got front panel damage?

Cheers guys..there isn't any front panel damage bar a small bit of rust under the front panel, so I guess I would be butchering it too much just for the sake of it. I know there is more than just a change to the grilles to make it look like a lowlight, but I reckon it would look pretty sweet all the same. I know this mod wouldn't be for the purists! Maybe I will just try and make (or have made) some grilles to fit the existing opening in the earlier style.
