recently changed front beams.
ive noticed now that wen i turn left i can only turn the wheels a little bit, thus making my turning circle very poor when turning left.
i can turn right normally to full lock, nothing wrong there.
do i need a wheel alignment which i am getting this week anyway, or is soemthing else the matter?
thanks
sam

One man's junk...
did you centre everything before you put it back together?
If at first you don't succeed. Build, build again.

Sam,
Sometimes when steering boxes wear out in centre, some people turn it round one turn left or right so the wear spot is moved. What you have is a symptom of this.

One man's junk...
just wondering if the front beam you just put in is bent?
i say this cause my race car has the same symtoms and i had to adjust the stops so it was even both ways.
i dont know know if my beam is bent but im pretty sure something has to be.
let us know what you find out
Is your steering box going from full lock L to R?

just to back up vwrallycar's thoery.
when i was in an accident where i came in contact with a truck side on and bent the drivers side steering knuckle and bent the beams slightly i had exactly the same thing.

i have a variation of that problem too mate. my car actually turned really well going right, and stuff all going left.
i think it was caused by putting all the steering back together with the wheels off centre, ie turned right. so now 'straight ahead' in terms of the steering setup is actually turning slightly right in real life.
to fix it, you'll need to pull it apart, straighten the wheels and put it back together, with wheels straight this time.
it not a small job, which is why i haven't done it yet considering my dub just a bush basher.
if this is not your problem, disregard this post.nn[ Edited on 4-7-2005 by theverybigtallman ]
