ey,

things are just a little dusty at the moment, and seeing as im going to do a full service myself - might as well do a little house cleaning 😉

other than avoiding the electrical components, when spraying degreaser+water -- is there anything else that I should be avoiding?

cheers

The dog????

But really, i dunno just the carbs... they dont like water. Depends how you are doing it? Are you taking the engine out or doing it with it in the car and also wat part of the engine you wana clean.

If its just the sump and gearbox then spray away, you drive in the rain dont you?

Some degreasers contain a caustic substance which eats aluminium. Don't panic but just make sure you wash it all of thoroughly.
I degrease my notch motor every few months. I give the dizzy a good spray of crc first and jam some rags down the carbs to absorb anything which goes down.
Once you've finished it start it up and let it run till it gets hot and vapourises all the water.

Just remember to take the rags out of your carbs....you can put plastic bags over them as well
