We loved every minute of the cruise..!
I picked up two prizes on the raffle..!
I got to see my dad at speers point. (we live 350kms away).
We did a round trip of 650kms, with a second hand engine that had only just been installed.
Yeah, I broke down, 15 kms from home..! but hell, it was worth it.
I'll be attempting to make many more runs. Especially Central Coast, Newcastle orientated.

I thought it was a great day even if i felt like a wally following a VW cruse in a Mazda! Great location. I got to see a part of NSW that I probably wouldn't get to normally.

I wonder which club it was that boycotted the event. I've been to the last couple of club vw meetings and i didnt hear about any boycott plan. I've also been on 3 well attended cruises in the last 2 months with club vw and flat four which had no trophies at all.
If everyone who did go had a good time, then you should be happy. Getting uptight about it and insulting the people you want to participate isnt going to help. I organise hillclimbs. 18 months ago when I took over we had 12 entrants and lost about $1000. I then had a couple that ran with approx 24 and might have broke even. I didnt send out insulting emails to all the invited clubs. Last month I had 46 pre entries and would have been at full capacity of 60 had there not been for the wind/rain storm. CAMS are asking me why our events are growing when others are shrinking. What you need to do is find out why people didnt go and try to address those issues for future events. I'm not having a go... I'm making a suggestion as to where energy should be focussed.
I didnt go because it would have cost me quite a lot of money in fuel when I can barely afford food. I have $1000 overdraft and it went over overdraft last week when the fees were taken off. I really wanted to go because I wanted to meet beb (and sneak up on her and cop a good feel :P) but it wasnt to be. if the planets arent aligned, they arent aligned. cant change it.

Just another angle to consider...I'm in Brisbane and although BEB made the effort to go (nice one), I simply couldn't go.
My point...my beetle is on club rego so unless it was a sanctioned event I may have thought twice...although I'm lucky i've also got a daily driver.
I don't know if it was a "sanctioned" event but thats just food for thought.
