The inside door handle on my '76 Cab has come away from the internals of the door latch. The external door handle works ok.

I've had to door panel off today having a look to see how it reconnects, but it's a bit of a squeeze in there. Has anyone got a pic / diagram of how this connects, or any idea on the best way to reconnect it - ie, should I pull off the whole door latch, reconnect the rod, and then slide it all back through - gee I hope that makes sense.

the hole where the rod goes at the inside handle does wear a lot.... maybe the rod has worn thru....
if so all You need is another inside handle assembly....
on the other end of the rod is a clip that holds the rod in the hole... the clip may have broken or fell off.....

I hope this is of some help.....
this is how My 1968 Beetle door handles work, I don't know if they have been changed over the years....
I don't think they have.....

Thanks Lee.

When I pulled the Rod out, there was a clip in the bottom of the door, which looked broken. How does this clip attach the rod to the mechanism?
