yesterday's bridge family fun run was awesome. Totally different deal to city to surf last month. Only 15000 entrants, plenty of room to move. Much more easy on the legs, and much more scenic. Running from Luna Park, over the harbour bridge across the cahill expressway and finishing on the opera house forecourt. You get a choice of courses. We did the 3.8km as I had my 7 yr old with us. She had a ball! Normally struggles with the 500m at athletics but ran the entire 4kms in about 30 minutes. Dont know for sure as we were a couple of minutes late for the start, and we stopped for a photo op on the bridge. Must have been the adrenalin and the excitement of running in the middle of the road. Other courses were 9kms, 21km half marathon and a marathon. And no heartbreak hill!!! 😀 I can even walk still
Should be able to get an exact time soon as they had electronic doohickies to put on your feet to record start and stop times.
And at the end you were looked after by blackmores who were giving out fruit salads, caps, bum bags, toothpaste, vitamins, gatorade, telegraph papers (and singlets for marathon runners.. which I got.... maybe I loooked like I'd ran a marathon lol)
I thouroughly recommend taking your kids on it next year. I hope they swap the events around so that the bridge is a warm up to C2S though.
