I'm after some advice re modifying my beetle to give him 'Herbie' characteristics.
I saw a car on ebay that had a second battery under the back seat, which was used to blink the lights, honk the horn and something else.
Can anyone tell me more about it, and how I would do these modifications?
I have a 6V beetle.
how were u intending to make him do these things?
wouldn't it be easier to just press the horn, flash the lights etc? or do u want to do it remotely with another set of switches somewhere?

I'd like to have it remote, but I'm not sure how to make this happen.
I thought I'd add a second 6V battery under the back seat, and have a second fuse board on the front fire wall, to which I would wire the horn, one light and the wipers, which would also attach to whatever makes a remote work. Does anyone know what sorts of parts for the remote I'm looking for, and where in Perth I'd get them?
Thanks Pretty-Blue-Bug, I think making the eyelids blink would be cute too, but I'll have to settle for making one light blink for the time being.

hmmmm...
perhaps buying a car alarm kit and wiring it differently... eg instead of locking and unlocking doors it could do the wipers.. making the lights blink would be easy enough (just like they do when u lock and unlock the doors on most cars with a remote locking system) depending on what sort of kit and how much u want to pay u can get remotes that have a few different buttons on them that do different things...
ur best bet is prolly to talk to an auto eleccy, or the guys down at ur local alarm store...
