Subject: Australia

Listening to Macca on ABC this morning. He was at Mildura and saying he saw piles of oranges along the river and when he asked why he was told they had been dumped. The growers told him that Woolworths and I guess Coles were importing at ridiculous figures like $30 per tonne. Price in store works out to $1000 a ton.
One guy and his family had been growing citrus since 1971 and he was now applying for the dole.

Another lady phoned in and said the first imported pineapples had arrived in Brisbane and also Indonesian bananas which are known to have diseases.

Australia HAD a world wide reputation for quality but like our education is dumbing down we are also expected to drop our food standards.

I don't think it makes much difference whether Liberal or Labor is in-they all bow down to multinationals and the platitudes of acedemics who think up things like National Competition Policy , multiculturism, free trade etc. None have ever worked!

They don't know what competition means-it means doing your best and if you can't compete you are out.
Not lowering the playing field.

Kids are now taught that winning is nothing and they all get a medal or certificate-doesn't matter if you are last or first. I always thought the idea was if I was back in the field the idea was to improve next time.

Of course inaction will win because people have now reached the stage of saying "what can I do?" which is part of the dumbing down situation.

When there is so much negativity by politicians and corporations against people like Dick Smith and Pauline Hanson you wonder who is making something on the side. Is it the "pollies" or the parties or are our elected members to dumb to realise what is really happening.

If you want to forward this to anyone-feel free- or you can ignore it.
I am reaching the stage I don't care anymore but wonder what my grandchildren will have to put up with in the future.
