We are puttin my 68' dub back together now and have bought a new kph speedo for it. Just wondering what we connect it up to? My partner said something about connecting it to the wheel?? Mmm, well im confused!
Anywayz if anyone can give me some clues as to how to make it work that'd be great! :P

Hey foxy, im no expert but... the speedo cable runs off the front left wheel, from the centre of the hub, held in by a circlip.... if its the same as the 71 S bug, if ur new speedo is electric, it will need a sender to attach to the end of the cable, (not the wheel end) called a Hall effect sender this converts the rotation into an electrical impulse signal, which in turn you connect to your new speedo - you should be able to pic one up from coventrys or repco. Directions will be on the sender, but its simple, threat the cable into the new sender, and then connect the 3 wires (normally) ground, ign or acc, and sender wire which goes to the speedo.
Hope this helps.
Thanx punch bug I will pass this on to Kev and will have a crack at it this weekend
as said by punch bug, the early ones are cable driven from front left wheel held in by circlip.
And correct about the hall effect sensor. Need it if you go electric.
Good luck.
see.... air and water do mix 😉
