Hi all,

The guy who put my buggy together has put the indicator arm on the right side, not the left as like most other VWs. It wouldn't normally matter I suppose but when I get in the buggy my foot often knocks the arm. One day I'll end up breaking it.

Is it possible to swap the sides over? As in, can I just swing the mechanism around somehow without too much trouble? Or will it be a huge job? I don't want to have to disassemble the column etc, but if its fairly simple I'd like to try it. Believe its early type 1 mechanism but can't be sure myself.

Thanks!

Depends on what model column you are using. If it's an early one you loosen the screw in the base of the indicator and swing it to the other side and tighten up again. Then take your steering wheel off and unscrew the indicator cancelling plate on the base of the boss and turn it 180o and screw it back on, now it should all would the way it was designed.

You don't have to change wires as you move the lever the same dirrection as you move the wheel.
Cheers.
