My best friend and i decided to move out of home again, to a friends dads rental house closer to town! It was all very very exciting until this morning when my friend arrived to see the front door wide open...

Bastards had pull all glass slats windows out and climbed in!! Luckily we hadnt move all our valuables in and they only stole a rug (which isnt going to be worth much at the pawn shop)

Pretty sure that it was one of the neighbours, as he was watching us the whole time we were moving in... and then this afternoon when we were moving out..

Makes me soo annoyed that a couple of hours after moving in somebody is already inside going through all your stuff!! but also lucky it happened now before we moved anything of real value (at the pawn shop) in..

kara, that totally sucks...and I know how u feel.

I had the misfortune of moving recently and watch as some of my vw bits were moved slightly more carefully than the other things...but when i went to grab them to finish off Edith, their gone.

No-one knows where they might be, as we were all sure they were in the same place, so it looks like no-one moved them around the house. And I finished unpacking everything, so they really arent here.

And the fact it was only my VW stuff missing suggests its a VW enthusist, which makes it worst.

But neway, I figure there is nothing I can do but look at the good side, and that means looking forward to 'different things, and perhaps things that were in better condition than the things i had , maybe? And the fact that it most likely happened when I wasnt home.

Neway, I can totally empathise with u on this one. Utterly, totally & completely.

*HUGS* thats a nasty thing to have happen as soon as you move... and good thing nothing valuable was stolen...
if you think it was your neighbour, why not repay the favour and watch them like a hawk at every chance you get? they will get so paranoid!!!

is there any way of locking the glass slats?
in the beginning, the universe was created.
this made alot of people very angry and is widely regarded as a bad move.

Yeah karma will get them back!!

BEB- yeah that is really bad too!! VW stuff getting stolen is not cool

Starbug- When i was leaving the driveway yesterday the neighbour who i suspect it was, was trying to hide while watching me through his window.. but i just kept staring at him.. and as i was driving away he slightly pop his head up and i just kept glaring at him... so if it was him who did it, then i think he would realise that i know.. also, the glass slats cant really be locked well. boarding up the window would prob deter them.. .i think whoever did it, would have done it before..

But we have decided not to move there anymore cause we feel pretty unsafe... And we just hate the thought that one night we'll come home and all our good stuff will be gone or even worse somebody will be in there when we get home...

Yeah good call. If they've broken in before you've even moved your stuff in, best to keep well away from the place.

You could pay your neighbour a visit when you go and see if he has a nice new rug. :cussing

Thats a bummer Kara,i had the exact same thing happen to a place i'd just moved into.Same slat window as well which was then replaced with solid glass.Had quite afew valubles stolen but at the end of the day it took a really long time to get rid of the feeling that someone had been in our place & we were paranoid for the rest of the time in the place so probably best you move somewhere else & start a fresh!Good luck.

A simple way to make life harder for prospective thieves is to glue the louvre windows in. I have used Araldite for this purpose. Just make sure that the edges of the louvres and the metal bits they go in are free of dust, dirt or other crap befoire applying the glue.

Mind you it takes a few hours to set and it doesn't sound like your guy is that patient!
