Hey all,

Im trying to get the real axel back together after it was removed to free up the old gearbox. But I dont seem to be able to get the axel / thread poking far enough out so I can get the 36mm nut on the end after the brake drum. Make sense?

See the pic. Should this gap exist? Should I bolt everything up and whack the axel rod from the gearbox end and hope that it closes up the gap?

Any advice welcomed.

Cheers

looks to me like the bearing is the problem. It should just slip on. Is the bearing off the old axle or is it off a different one?

I spose it could be rusted a bit, but I wouldn't just go wacking it. BTW, where is the backing plate for the drum? It goes between the drum axle housing and the bearing housing.

Tis all good, a couple of gentle taps and it went through so I could put the nut on.

Thanks Pete.
