Hey everyone, wondering on the hp estimates on 2 different engines, one is a 1776 with all stock internals but lightened flywheel and con rods and a single 40dcn webber and the other is a 1776 with counterweighted crank, flywheel and berg pulley, 040 heads, slightle ported, engle 120 cam, twin 36mm del carbs. also what would the redline be on th second engine, the first redlines at 5000 rpm, thanks for the help

The first one i would say about 50 ponies at the wheels if all is healthy and about 60 for the second
They are actually similar to motors i have had/have
I had a 1776 that had 3 angled slight port 040s AP2 cam, counterwighted crank, lightened fly wheel, T'bird exhaust and IDF 36's. Dynoed at 61HP at the wheels
I currently have a 1916, stock exhaust and carb, mild cam, std crank. Dynoed at 50 HP at the wheels
Gives you some sort of bench mark
For comparrison - from the 3 dyno days i have been to, no 1600 stocker has made more than 40 ponies

will the extra hp be noticable? and will it make it at higher rpm? is there anything i can do to make heaps more power or is the turbo option gonna be the best bet?

61HP at the wheels is a 50% increase over stock.
Even the 50HP i am currently making is 25% over stock
YES - bloody oath it is noticeable.
Does it smoke tyres in every gear and waste WRX's?? - No
61HP in a heavy super beetle was doing a tad under 10sec 0-100km/hr.
Have a look through Wheels or one of them VW mags and see how many cars are under that - really not that many.

well mine is a 65 so it is already lighter plus its got a baja kit so lighter again, i can already beat my mates r32 gtst skyline to 60km/h so the extra power will hopefully allow me to scare the hell out of all the ricers and ajs out there, i live it a town full of commodores who think they rule cause the got an exhaust and mags, i wanna be able to embarras them
