Hi All,

Dasdubber, you have convinced me to go the modification route on the front beam, $s wise it makes sense. I checked out Custom bugs & buggies at Stafford and they look like the way to go.

I do have some more questions though, and because it isn't going to happen until the new year it is always a good idea to be fully informed.

The beams from CB performance don't seem to have the bump stops installed. I figure that they are removed for a purpose, and with my master brain power :vader I came to some conculsions.

1. If the bump stops where installed it would leave to a very bumpy ride and would also restrict wheel travel.

Therefore I am curious to know what should be done with the bump stops when the beam is adjusted? Shold they be removed altogther? Or should they simply be raised up the beam. If they are removed altogether what is to stop the wheel bottoming out on the guard other than the travel of the shock (or does this only occur when you drop the front to the floor?).

And if they aren't removed how far up the beam is acceptable without interfering with other suspension mechanisms. I know that Custom Bugs and Buggies would be able to fill me in on this information, but as I said I am just trying to increase my knowledge alittle before the fact.

I am sure that this has all been covered before, however when I did a search I couldn't find any mention about the bump stops.

Cheer,

Matt.

Yeah just to clarify its Custom Offroad (at stafford)...I think Custom Bugs and Buses (CBB) is in Sydney....not to be picky, just wanted to make sure you contact the right guys.

C.O. have done my beam (narrowed 80mm and adjusters installed into BJ beam) which originally don't have bump stops. I know the bump stops can be cut and turned and rewelded but in many cases they are removed altogether from link pin beams. My assumptions regarding their removal are along the lines of yours - I am sure Dave from C.O. could confirm it but I think the shock travel would ultimately stop the upward movement of the trailing arms (ie. once the shock is fully compressed) - but please check this out, don't take my word as I am not 100%.
