Hi all,

I noticed something the other day when my Brother (Dave) and I were out playing in his Baja (OK, we were really doing some fine tuning on his EFI system, but that is another story!). My laptop gives me a reading of the battery voltage (via the EFI computer) and I noticed that when the vehicle was nose down (steep) that the voltage would drop from 13.7 to around 12.5 - once the car leveled out the voltage would return to 13.7 again.

Has anyone else noticed anything like this happen? Any theories? Electrolite in battery sloshing around and uncovering plates? Or should we be looking for a loose connection that only happens when the car is facing down :duh ?

The engine (Type IV) is fitted with an Altinator from a Porsche and uses a solid state regulator, so I can't see either of these parts causing the problem....or have I overlooked something?

im willing to go with low electrolite levels produced by tilting of the car myself. do you know if the battery has the correct level of electrolite in it.
