Had an engine fire on Sunday, fuel hose burst and spat fuel onto hot motor & shazam up she went. Put it out no worries as I always carry an extinguisher & no major damage just a fried fuel filter, vacumn hose, acelerator return spring & a little bit of singed paint on the inside of the engine lid.
But will everyone check their flexible hoses & fittings & buy and install an extinguisher(little bit of cheap insurance)
Cheers

i got a new engine and new fuel hoses but still carry a fire extiguisher.
Whenever i smell smoke its a quick check in the rear view mirror. Too many 1980 something cars spewing burnin smells!
thats freaky my name is brendon too, and mine caught on fire on a sunday a couple of months ago , and i allways have a new fire extingiuster on board only 30 bucks bloody fuel line had no hose clamp popped off and shazzam she was ablaze aswell but put out not to bad
show us your gates
Yeah had my 2 year old twins in the back seat so there were a few nervous moments until they were out of harms way & then I could attack the fire. Hitched a ride down to super cheap auto for some fuel & vacumn hose and away she went, except for the lump of burnt fuel hose that gotunder the needle & seat and proceeded to flood the bloody thing.
Cheers
Brendan

Not just fuel hoses.
I had a fire in an early bay camper with a 1600TP from a (prob oily) rag I stuffed into the fresh air outletof the fan housing coz one of the "donkey dicks" had split. It fell out onto the exhaust "manifold" (no rear coverplate fitted either- Doh!!!) & up she went. Luckily the pong was so bad I got it out pretty quick there was little damage.

I gotta agree with ya DoNkey... too many other cars making smells and smoke. I was sitting at the lights the other day and to my horror there was smoke billowing out from under my car... i panicked and moved across the intersection to pull over, but when i got there the smoke hadn't followed me... It was a P plater behind me in an 80's commodore whose brakes were stuck on, and the idiot was still driving it.... in my mirrors it looked like the smoke from his front wheels was coming out of my rear guards hehehe
