Anyone have, or know where I can get shims for 009 or 034 distributors?

Movement in my 034 has nearly wrecked my empi electronic setup. Up & down movement of shaft has allowed magnetic disc to rub on the reluctor and they are chewing chunks out of each other. (and yes, I did remember to put the spacer ring in place)

Lots, aparrently.

I haven't measured but would guess at between 1/4" and 3/8". I'm off to work now but will measure when I get back home.

Bizzare,

I'm running an 034, which is the same as a 009 but it has vac advance (single) As you can see in my quote I did remember the spacer.

Fitting the unit is pretty well a no brainer as far as I'm concerned. The only problems I've heard of are: leaving the spacer out, wrong rotor and/or wrong cap. None of those applies in this case. Which leaves me with shaft movement as the only cause.

I've also done a rough check to see if shaft is bent and it doesn't appear so.

OK, finally got to measure properly. From normal position I can push the shaft downwards 1mm then it returns to normal and I can pull it up 1mm. So a total travel of 2mm, it seemed like more when checking by eye. It's the downward movement that is the problem as that is when the rubbing occurs between the electronic components. That is why I think shimming it will do the trick.
