will useing a 38amp regulator with a 30 amp genny cause any problems?

regulator came off my old engine which had a 38amp genny in it and the regulator has 38amps stamped on it. but the genny i want to use is 30amps.

I believe its only a maximum amperage figure...
so it should be OK....

not 100% sure but i would certainly try it,----if the geny can only produce 30A and the reg is 38 there should be no conflict:beer:beer:beer
Don't argue with an idiot; people watching may not be able to tell the difference.

hmmm, maybe a quick fix, but that will run your generator harder than it can and possibly cook the coil because of the added current and thus heat in there. As long as u dont load up the generator too hard it should last till you get a proper fix. But im pretty sure that your coil will or wiring may burn out if this is a long term solution... not too familiar with generator but wait for some1 else with a definate answer. For time being just dont create too much draw on ur charging system ie lights, head unit, etc etc on a not so strong battery.
