G'day,
We just got back home (4.5 weeks down south) to Yirrkala 15ks from Nhulunbuy on the Gove Peninsular. This time last Saturday (Sat 22nd) the Bureu of Metorology predicted that Cyclone Monica at catergory 5 was going to direct hit us, but as we know it continued north before turning west.
I had resigned myself to thinking that we would return to nothing, no house, no personal effects and no Desert Splitty, but all is well as all we got here was a big blow and heaps of rain.
The Splitty got a lot of water in through perished rear door seal, so got all doors open trying to let it dry out.
Well betting crank up the ride on mower and attack the jungle that has sprung up (about 300mm high) while we were away.
Cheers, Ian.

My wifes uncle is in Nhulunbuy...he just got back from fixing his other house near Innisfail to the thought of having to go through another Cyclone....glad it missed !!

Time is a great healer. Unless it's a rash, then you're better off with ointment.

Good to hear everything is OK.My sister and her family lives on a boat at Nhulunbuy and we haven't heard a whisper since. We're just hoping everything is fine with her.
Thanks everyone,
ancientbugger, I work with someone who lives on a boat and is on the Committee of the Yatch Club, so she would know your sister for sure, U2U or email me and I'll pass a message on for you.
Cheers, Ian.
