In Melbourne, it would take you the same amount of time to get 60kms, cost about $15.50 in tolls and about $1500 in fines for daring to venture over the 40kmh limit.:cussing All in the name of "safety" of course.😠

You averaged 15km/h. Should have taken the horse, it would've been quicker, or ridden your pushbike at 20kph and cut an hour off your trip... just a bit of perspective.

It took me 15 minutes to get into the centre of town, buy lunch, a paper, a coffee, go to the postoffice and then back home. AND I was walkin'.... damn foottraffic.!!
>took me about a n hour to get from hornsby back to campbelltown the other arvo was 3 o`clockish dont you just love the m7<
Have to agree. Home drive from Meadowbank to Nth Richmond (53km) just on the hour now rather than 1 1/2 hrs and that's sticking to the speed limit (well, nearly!) The opposite way of a morning................FORGET IT! The parking station starts at the merge of the M2 generally. Back to the back roads which are now much clearer since the M7 and only 1 hr 10 mins that way.

If i leave my driveway i can drive 30 km on way, turn around and drive back home in about 30/40 minutes for the whole trip.Where you guys live must suck.......and i do that with the sun shining!😂

When I lived in Sydney 2.5 years ago, I must have been lucky with traffic! Coogee to Brookvale in average 25 mins... mind you, that WAS in a Nissan Silvia... 😉
Then I moved to Narrabeen, and had an 8 minute drive to work. Used to love that! 😉

Not a road story but rather a train one. I catch the train from Riverstone to the city, day in day out. They changed the timetable and someone pulled up some stats from years gone by and apparenlty the steam train used to get to the city in the same time. And they call it progress.

I must admit I have a chuckle to myself watching the gridlock while I'm doing 115, or on the harbour bridge in the peak.
Drive to work?? What a great f#cking idea.
You should catch trains you people. It's certainly quicker, I imagine it's cheaper, but I haven't had to pay for 20 years...🙄
Well my friends are gone & my hair is grey, I ache in the places where I used to play.
yeah trains would be great... if connex could get them to run on time, make them run faster, not cancel services without prior warning, make it cheaper ($10.50 for a daily zone 1+2... pfft), and run trains across the grid instead of along it....
If i were to catch the train... it'd only take me a casual 2hours to get to college... and 2 hours back... instead of 40mins by kombi power....
But hey... if they could make it work properly id use the trains again in no time 🙂 🙂 🙂
Plus have you seen the ticket goons? They are like the trenchcoat mafia... i had them accost me in the middle of the road in the city, cos they claimed i was at a tram stop without a ticket... I WAS CROSSING THE ROAD!!!... Evil, evil little men in trenchcoats :P
