Hello all I have a few queries that some of you may be able to help me with...?

I am looking at buying some Fuch rims (if I can find some), but I am not sure what size to buy. So, what size fill guards well nicely? Is the factory Porsche offset on Fuch's suitable for VW's?

Can someone help me with sizes / suitability, and then I know what I should be chasing.

I am thinking I would like a set of polished 15x6 (fr) and 15x7 (rr), or polished 16x6 (fr) and 16x7 (rr).

What is a fair price also?

Oh, and if anyone has some for sale ... PLEASE let me know!

Finally, if you have pics of a dub with Fuch's and the size please post them so I can see what size looks like what on a car.

Thanks sooo much for your help in advance.

I actually dont have a dub yet :blush, but am looking (just started) for the right one. *insert silly question* Does the year model affect Fuch suitability?

But just that these are the rims I have always wanted on a 60's year model VW, and they seem to be hard to come buy? That is why I am looking for the wheels at the same time as I am looking for the car - may saound crazy to some.

So am after a 1960ish beetle (the earlier the better, and unrestored if possible)...

As you can see I am flying blind at the moment as I am new to the VW scene, but very keen to become part of it asap.

Find car first!

Depending on year of car will determine axle length .... so on and so forth .

where are you???

I am in Brisbane - Inner North...

I am after an early beetle, but post oval window as my budget doesnt really allow an oval.

Am looking for as complete a car a possible, ideally an unrestored but good condition (body wise atleast), ie. a good base to add to and create my ultimate VW cruiser with additions like the usual -> Fuch's, lowered, roofracks, single spot/foglight etc. All the great VW 'optional extras'.

Need to find that unmolested example!

I will spend the money to get the right car etc.

if you're not too fussy, get some replicas, but don't be looking at originals either before OR after you settle for the rep's....

hee hee, jealous much??...

Another silly question from the uninitiated ... how to identify between genuine and replica Fuch's?

The latest HotVW's mag from USA has an article on identifying early fuchs alloys. Just got it via subscription so it wont be in the newsagents for a few weeks yet.

That bug in the pic looks to have 4.5inch wide fronts with possibly deep 6 rears, the most desirable combination for a cal looker or resto cal car, by far the most expensive. If you want to get the skinny front look the best option is the flat 4 replicas, try finding real 4.5's will take you forever and cost you the earth when you find them. Most folks say the repros of them arent too bad at all, I haven't seen them up close so I can't say for myself though.
