Am thinking about going to the Fatherland next March or so. Just wondering if anyone is good at the geography of Germany or has been that can tell me distances to the VW and or Porsche museums/factories.
Unfortunately, it will be a short stay (4 nights or so) and we will be landing in Frankfurt.
Your help would be appreciated.

Youll be pushing it to do it in 4 days!!!you need two days in wolfsburg ..one day to travel from frankfurt to wolfsburg ...the Autobahns in that part of germany are very congested.Try the Yha in wolfsburg top value and you can walk to the factory or museum easily

Wolfsburg is about 4 ish hours away to the north of Frankfurt airport. Located 1 hour from Hanover and a little bit more from Berlin.

Porsche as well as Daimler-Chrysler is at Stuttgart to the south of Frankfurt.

I'll try to dig up more info, i will be there again (3rd time) in September this year. You will not regret a trip to the Factory/Museum/Autostadt, go for it!!

So do you think we should do Sinsheim and perhaps squeeze in Stuttgart for Porsches?
We are on limited time unfortunately as we are doing New York, UK, France and Germany in 3 1/2 weeks. Your right h, I am sure that there are heaps of things to do other than cars, my wife will be sure to tell me that, but I would be disappointed if I didn't do some car stuff while there.

I did Germany in 2001 in a week with pmgbus.
Flew to Pomgolia, and bought a van at a swap meet, caught the ferry across to France, climbed the Eiffel tower, drove around the Arc De Triomphe, Drove into Germany, Went past Stuttgart, Nurnburg (best kranski's ever) up the west side of the country, to Wolfsburg, allow 2 days for the Autostadt museum, the Deiselstrasse museum (the original Wolfsburg museum), Osnabruck (Karmann museum is only viewable by appointment), Hannover, then briefly through Denmark, Holland, and back through France to get on the ferry back to Pommy land for the next car show the following weekend.
Most people seem normal, till you get to know them.
