was shocked today to find an email claiming to be from a purchaser of an item of mine on ebay, which in very official terms claimed to have just paid me for said item via paypal, now unless i have automatically been given an account by ebay (which i believe is not the case) i have never given my paypal details to ebay, nor have i authorised for payments to be made using my actual paypal account, which is linked to a different email account then my ebay.
what shocked me was that the email had the name of the item, auction number, item selling price and postage costs, what i believe to be the correct purchasers name, and even an unconfirmed address for the purchaser. has anyone else gotten an email like this? if it is a hoax it is a bit scarey what information people can uncover these days!

no its not a hoax, if you do not have a paypal account they hold the funds under your email address and try to get you to open a account, tell paypal to piss off and have the buyer pay via bank deposit, paypal are greedy! anyways paypal i aussie is playing up again, last time it was 8 months before i could use it!

I've been trying to pay for stuff from the states for 2 weeks. Paypal keeps telling me insufficient funds and add another account. I know there is funds there but it seems like they are just trying to gain access to another account< so I'm not playing that game. I sent the seller an email telling him I'd direct deposit into his account and to send me his details, but I think he feels the same as me, somethings not right. I guess I just lose the item.👎
The catch is, if you report to paypal, they suspend YOUR account as well 'to protect you' but you cannot get to your funds.......
When it works it is great but dont keep funds in the account if you cannot afford to lose it.

I received emails from people who had won ebay items from "Me" and had paid the money....
I sent the emails to ebay, as I don't want to be banned as one of My Sons has been for no fault of His...
I had found trying to contact a 'person' in ebay was virtually impossible.... but this time....
Finally, I got to a chat room situation with an employee of ebay.. who told Me they knew it wasn't Me who had placed the 20 odd items on ebay.... and sold them...
That was a relief....
I use Pay Pal as its the best way to buy things overseas..
or I should say Pay for things in another currency...
without the $30+ fees banks & post office charge...
I frequently get emails [yesterday] from supposedly PayPal asking for My account details or My PayPal account will be stopped or frozen etc...in so many days or hours....
Luckily I've never had any problems with Pay Pal whose account is linked to My bank account...
Try & contact PayPal - that is someone who works there..
and tell them Your story....
Ebay now has actual people there to complain to, so paypal maybe the same..... fingers crossed.....
