Anyone set up dual controls in a beetle. Idea is for teaching kids to drive.
Its been done before by driving schools.
I'm wondering if they used a left hand drive steering box or wether the boxes are the same but with different steering arm (cant just flip it due to hole taper for tie rod bolts)
Anyone here done it? Anyone have a left hand drive steering box?
Any info appreciated.

i have heard of a bloke putting two steering boxs on his beam in his baja.

to use a short steering arm on both sides and just connected the two pittman arms with a custom made one from either side .

he did it so he didnt bend a long one ( said it was stronger that way )
suppose you could do it like that

so you would have
1. short standard drivers one
2. pitman arm (connected
to your steering box)
3. custom made one
(modified pasengers one)
4.pitman arm (connected to
another steering box , set up in the left hand drive position)
5. standard drivers one on the
left .

now i dont know if that made sense or not cause i,m tied

then you can fit your steering wheel just as a left hand drive one would be fitted.

dont know about peddels thou(a good hand brake i suppose )
IF IT WERE ME I,D JUST SEND THEM TO A DRIVING SCHOOL NOT ENOUGH ROOM IN A BEETLE FOR 2 STEERING WHEELS (SORRY FOR THE CAPITAL ENDING I TOLD YOU I WAS TIED HEHEHEHE)

That's an incredibly dangerous, and mostly illegal, mod for a daily driver. You will never legally be allowed to do it without an instructors licence, a mod plate from one of the few places that does this conversion, and special rego and insurance.

Send them to a driving school. Let them wreck someone elses car!

i learnt to drive in a 74l bug with dual controls... her name was navinka and she was a german woman
if my arms were too tense on the wheel she would knock me one on the elbows lol... funny times...

there is no emoticon for what i am feeling...
