I'm going to change my chankshaft pulley over on a type 1 and was wondering if this was a difficult job???

Does anyone know a link to a website with a good procedure of could outline one for me?? What seals etc etc are needed?? Is it best done with engine in or out of car/buggy??

Any little tricks that ppl might know would be great!!!

Thanks, Marty:beer

Just undo the bolt and get two big levers and gently work it off. A proper puller would be better but if your careful the two levers will work fine. Easy job.
If the Bolt is tight (it should be) put the car in top gear and yank the handbrake on to lock the engine.
No seals needed assuming unless it has been modified to take one (yours isnt)

Hope the motors going ok!

Thanks shifty will give it a go next wk!! I've been a bit slow with the project of late due to work then illness (a common link with me!!!😀) but should be able to get back into it next wk as things will quite down. Just gotta run a new clutch cable, fuel line & through the motor in!!! So close yet so far i guess!!!

i changed mine last year from the stock one.. was easiest with a puller - tried two long screwdrivers in the slots but just started to bend the pulley. i had my engine out at the time so used a lock on the flywheel to stop the motor turning over whilst undoing the bolt.
see.... air and water do mix 😉
