Is ist possible to get an overhaul kit for a master cylinder, is it worth doing? Or would we be better off get a new one.
And anyone have any ideas where we can get a new one from in outer east melbourne?
Thanks!

Yes, and yes its worth doing provided the cylinder bore is not too corroded from lack of maintenance.
If its just a case of a cracked seal and the bore is not corroded then just rebuild it with a kit. use the proper rubber grease when assembling.
If the bore is corroded it can be borught back if its not heavily marked with a brake cylinder hone. Peanuts from Repco.
Try ABS for a rebild kit.

Im not a complete idiot, quite a few parts are missing....
well, a master cylinder, two caliper overhauls, front pads and two rear wheel cylinders later, I have great brakes again!
Now onto the noisy rear wheel bearing...never stops eh.

But still cheaper than owning a new car and having it devalue daily. And more fun too.
I think of old cars as recycling.
Yes
Its Good about no depreciation.... more like appreciation!!
but I have spent a lot of money on My beetle, that's why it drives like new...
apart from the noisy gearbox...!!
Once the gearbox is replaced, it will still drive like a new car only quieter.... lol..
I [plus many other VW owners] have had My master cylinder machined and a stainless steel sleeve fitted [with a kit]
so it will last a long time...
and will prossibly never wear out... [master cylinder ie]
it was done by a specialist..
