Some Beetles (and I think Type 3s) have 4.5-inch rims standard and no, I wouldn't fit a 165 to a 6-inch rim. 185 minimum on that rim size

a lot of drifters in japan and locally fit relatively narrow tyres to wide wheels, and it looks very cool, the tyre stretch inwards and it looks like rollerskates! it's not so easy to find a tyre place that will do it though, but places that do drift stuff should be able to help.

about 80 standard for xzx
I've got 165x45s on my 15x5.5 rims on my bug.
