Hey guys. I'm just wondering if anyone has seen the rear inner guard a couple of inches back from back suspension with cracks in them? This looks like its been welded before & its done it again. The cracks go for a couple of inches. The car drives fine & doesn't seem to be anything wrong with it. I'm not the most mechanical minded person but just wondering what anyone's thoughts were on causes & the way to fix (if you can fix it). Appreciate your info.

I can't remember anyone having this problem,
but You would have to find it first..
and I've never had this problem...
as i would have seen it when Waxing under the guards..
I have heard of Rally Beetles cracking in all sorts of places...
because of the rough terrain they encounter..
maybe some beetles do crack when the body flexes
but driving on smooth roads shouldn't do it...

bug is very high milage but is remarkable solid except for that

https://www.facebook.com/FlatFourBig miles will do that; there is a 'stress point' down there that instigates a crack after a small amount of rust gets hold - and especially if the chassis/body bolts (also in the rear wheel arch) are a little loose

i figured it to be old age too
definatly no rust there but poor little bug would have around 1 million kms under its belt
its done over 200,000 miles alone just since brendans mum bought it

Yes ti's definately got around. LOL. Thanks for the help guys I'll go & check those body bolts. It makes sense now, even to a dumb arse like me.
