G'day,
That's right, after nearly 2 1/2 years away we're heading on down to Victoria back to "The Old Volks Home".
We spent 9 months in WA, out in the Great Sandy Desert at Billiluna on junction of the Canning Stock Route and the Tanami Track (Road), did a lot of desert exploring while living there. Then moved to Gove, NT, (top right hand corner of NT) to work for 18 months and enjoy the country side (Tropics), lots of beach driving and river camping etc.
Have been getting the Splitty ready and now have to drop the motor to fit new flywheel oil seal and check other seals while it's out, other than that it's pretty much ready for it's 4100k trip home. It's sporting a bit of surface rust here and there from living so close to the sea (200m from home), there's always salt in the air up here.
There's approx 650ks of dirt road from here to the Stuart Hwy with a couple of big rivers to cross, one is still running about 800mm deep so should be interesting, will tow it through with the Discovery.
Will take some pics and put them up when we get home.
We leave here on 30th September and should be home by 10th October.
Cheers, Ian.

G'day,
Graham, the Goyder is about 500mm, but for some reason the Wilton is still running 800mm, I've driven thru the Wilton this time of year 4-5 times back in the 80s-90s when it was dry as, so not sure what is going on now.
Was your old place 5 Jasper, I'll try to get that pic for you.
I been making a canopy for the trailer to put some gear into and was going to tow it with the Splitty but have now decided to keep the Discovery to tow with and save the Splitty for having fun. Maybe later when I put a 2lt in it I'll tow it then.
The canopy materials all came from the dump including the aluminium roof rack, so doing my bit for recycling.
Cheers, Ian.
