Hi all,
I have a couple of questions. I am currently replacing and refitting the door windows and quater vents etc. The process of reinstalling the quater windows requires the rivet to be cut/taken out to fit the mount through the rubber. I have done all this and fitted it, but I need to know where I can get some new rivets? Can anyone point me in the right direction as to what to look for, for instance can I get it from a hardware store or similar and what am I looking for....this is a question probably that can be answered by those that have done the step themselves.
I also need to know where I can get the circlip that holds the wiper shafts in place. I have lost mine, or they weren't on there to start with and thus need some more, I have been to a few nuts and bolts places but nothing small enough or the right type.
Any help would be great and muchly appreciated.
Cheers,
Matt.
cant help with the circlip but i used bolts with nylocks instead of rivets, got em from a modelling shop i think they were 6-32 with allen key heads and then cut off the excess --neat and adjustable:beer:beer:beer
Don't argue with an idiot; people watching may not be able to tell the difference.
the rivets are available from all good VW shops as advetised on Here... such as Mick Motors...
they are NOT a standard item...
Circlips from Mick motors etc... too..
but I used stainless steel rounded allen key headed screws and nuts...
but they are a bit sloppy...
I think they should be maybe 7mm.... not sure...

i dont cut rivet where i don't need to as you can undo the rubber and get in with the cordless screwdriver phillips head and undo the hinge bracket in the groove (2 screws)
slide it through etc
saves a rivet and lots of work

Thanks for all the input everyone.
I had been thinking of the small bolt type setup but then, it is very easy to undo this and then jimmy your way into the car without too much damage etc.
I did also look at leaving them all together, but I don't think that I would have been able to push the bracket through the new rubbers and screw in the screws with the rubbers in the way.
Cheers.
Matt.
