I've found a late 70s model Kombi which has EFI on it.
The guy is willing to part with the EFI system for about $500.
Is this a good deal?
IF so...
Will this fit on my type 1 70s beetle?
Apart from maybe custom mainfold anything else I should know or do?

Cheers,

Richard

Any ideas, need to let the guy know.
Unless some one has something that would work for what I want it to do.

Cheers
Richard

1. It won't fit on a 70's model beetle engine as it has upright cooling.
2. If it "was" to fit (custom manifold) it is for a larger engine size so would not work properly.
3. You could probably use bits of the EFI to make a custom system, but then why spend the $500 when you would also need another ECU, unless the one supplied is aftermarket and tunable...
You can get lucky sometimes..if you keep your eyes open every now and then the systems of the Mexican beetles come up for sale on egay and the likes...good luck!! there are some custom setups getting around here...do a search!!

in a word, No.

Will take a fair bit of work.

How much do you know about efi?

Cheers guys for your help.
Still learning about efi but was just seeing if it is a viable method before suggesting to my mechanic.
I know people will say do a search for efi systems on this forum but does any one have a 1800 with a efi system on it.
Also any more reading articles which people could suggest would be great.

Thanks

Richard
