Hi everyone,
my beetle is going to be painted (not sure of exactly when, but hopefully not toooo far down the track) and I need some suggestions on colours. I am thinking either a nice metalicy blue (not too dark, not too light if you know what I mean), a green, similar to the Canberra Raiders Green, or purple (some sort of shiny dark purple) ... but i dont know any colour names etc... so any pics/suggestions would be great thanks

Personally i like solid colours rater than metal flakes.

Although - I really like that metallic yellow on the new Mazda 626's

Just go bright. There is enough silver cars out there already

Whataver u choose, choose a standard colour from a late-model Aussie-made. Easy to match if you crash it. Don't use a 'custom' colour... there are about 10,000 colours on standard cars so I'm sure you'll find somthing you like!

My exgf liked the colour of a Rover she saw in traffic last year - so that's what colour she painted her Ghia

If you are going to the trouble of spraying your car -

If you are going to keep it for a while, spray it any colour you like.

If you plan on selling soon-ish spray it a stock VW colour. Spray jobs are not cheap and people arent likely to want your custome colour.

As for that Mazda colour it is called Honey Yellow

Could only find it on the Mazda 2 colour scheme - the above link might work

i'd say the ford Neo - it looks better than the web version in that link.

or the Cosmic Blue of the Mazda3...or maybe even the Mazda3 Phantom Purple

here we are - this gives a pretty good idea (so long as I can afford those tyres and suspension mods too 😀 )

Mr Basil now:

Basil if he was purple:

Basil if he was green:

Basil if he was blue:

I tried to make pics smaller - dont know if it worked... hopefully they arent huge. let me know if they are too big and I'll try again! I dont know that I'll go with the yellow - because there are a few yellow bugs around canberra - gotta stand out! 😀

if his name is Basil, then that narrows it to Purple or Green.
I've never seen Blue Basil.

My old Baja "flying jalapeno" was holden Mint Julep Green when I had it.
The guy I sold it to painted it metallic purple
