I peoples.

I am posting this for a friend .
The story goes like this, She has replaced all the wheel cyd front and back and replaced all the brakes shoes front and back (drums allround) replaced the master cyd.

The car has standard link pin drums on the front and Type3 drums on the rear the new wheel cyd for the rear are type 3 ones and the front are beetles I checked that out in case she swaped the around, the master cyd was updated to a twin piston one before she bought the car.

I checked for any leaks at the wheels ,master cyd and in the car. I checked that the shoes where the right one's and adjusted up.

The brakes have a good height in the pedal and it will hold the pedal but they are very spongy and don't stop real good.

I have drums alround on my BAJA and the brakes are great with a nice strong pedal so I don't think it is because it drums alround .

Can anyone give me some ideas as to what else to look at to try and fix this for her as she really misses driving her baby around.

Thanks for any help.

get some body to pump the brake while you hold onto the brake lines.

It may be one of two things.

1- The rubber is old and is expanding.

2- the rubber is old and the inter diameter of the line has got smaller.. Caused by the line swelling due to age.

it could be the lines expending (i've had that)

did she fill up the brake light switch with brake fluid before she fitted it? if not you can get a small bubble of air in there that doesn't bleed out. when i filled mine i used a hypodermic needle.

hope this helps.
