Thanks everyone for the hand!
After speaking (U2U) with someone on here that had recently gotten a fridge serviced, I took the fridge out of my Kombi and plugged it in while it was sitting in a nice, level position in my garage.
Less than 24 hours later I was drinking a cold beer from the fridge and I had "made" some ice in the freezer section.
I guess the key learning is that these things dont make any noise. Just because they arent making any noise doesnt mean they arent working!
It is also worth noting that the little orange light ( I have an Electrolux Fridge) only comes on when the fridge is running on 12V. Once again, dont think the fridge isnt working just because the light doesnt come on.
I took the fridge to the guys at Caravan Refrigeration in Clayton....
http://www.caravanrefrigeration.com.au/ ... and they checked the coil for me and said it was fine. They effectively then told me that if the fridge worked on 220V that it should work on 12V. So, I now just have to get some power running through the 12V system as it has no juice through it according to my meter.
Also, I have the fridge sitting back in the Kombi now running on gas. I'll let it run like this for 24 hours, but at this point I can report the coil is getting hot and temp is cooling down inside the fridge.
The guys at Caravan Refrigeration helped someone else on this forum and were also good enough to give mine a quick check-over and not charge me anything, so they have to get a thumbs up at this point. There service charges are $75 + parts in case anyone is interested.
Cheers,
