My 73 Kombi lights are actually quite good, but my 71 Fasty lights are pathetic. Whats the difference and what would be the easiest fix to get a better glow in the Fasty apart from spotties of course?

I love 242HP sleepers. 🤪

How many sets of lights does it take a $229k Carrera S to learn? 😂 UPDATE: Cayman S, M3, B4 now added to the list.

well they headlights themselves would be identical cept the kombi ones are rotated 90 degrees
kombis and bugs got semi sealed in 76
its alot of things that make vw lights shitty
worn light switchs, dirty/corroded connecters, bad aim, rusty reflectors, tin shields missing (only applies to old round style bulbs not new H4s) frosted lenses, low voltage

check all of those and u'll find the problem

I recently fitted a pair of Morris Mini Minor headlights to my 73 Beetle. I don't know if they will fit a fasty, but they are worth a try. They come as a complete water proof assembly. Mine cost $20 each with the sealed beams, from the wreckers.

I needed to make a small bracket to get them to fit inside the VW headlight holes.

The MM headlights have their own adjustment, so I needed to remove the big adjusting screws from the Beetle trim.

Hi

It can be a number of things, stock light bulbs, rusty or dull reflectors or poor connections.

I fitted some mini headlight buckets to my 1973 1300, like shaihulud did, with some Hella H4 sealed beams and Narva + 50 bulbs and my lights are now brilliant

GO the H4 buckets. Then fit relays and 90/130w H4 bulbs. Got some in my buggy and the highbeams are brighter than my 100w superoscars. 👍

I replaced the headlight in my Baja professionally, I don't know how they go as yet because I haven't had it registered yet to get it out into the dark to try them. They are not a sealed bean but in a sealed unit. They are H4's as well. Although H4 gives you a fantastic range of light also look at the H7 type bulbs as an option.

I replaced all my wiring, installed twin relays, one for each light and upgraded my switch. Where they point can have a big difference of course, use a garage door to align them and simpley get a auto electrician to check is they are getting enough juice to do their best. Be wary of 90/130 watt bulbs it using plastic reflectors. A good 55/60w setup is far more reliable and easier on the loom particularly if you leave your lights on when your crank the ignition.

I will take a photo of mine for you when it returns - Or I might have in the archive.

Here we go - Don't have a pic from behind sorry. Basically it's a sealed housing screwed into the guard with steel brackets.

Too much chrome for my liking but some paint will fix that.
