no mate , you need a flex plate with the adapter to subaru .

The unit I have is for a manual gear box .

read conversion section..lots of help in there vw kid.

but to cut a long story short.

A LOT..if you want the car to be safe/legal and reliable.

probably . 8k worth at least.

Anthony, Its only going to cost 8k if you buy Porsche Rims, discs, calipers and full adjustible shocks for the front.

we are assuming he has a stock 1970 bug....meaning, drums all around?

he will NEED disc brake conversions.
he will NEED stiffer suspension if he wants the thing to feel remotely safer
he will NEED gearbox that has a chance of handling it.

im not trying to deter him just being realistic....i have spent more than 8 grand.

engineering by itself is not cheap.

and add, fuel pump, radiator, fuel lines...intercooling..all the small things add up.

I have disc brake conversions,
I have Stiffer suspension, including a rear sway bar,
I have a gearbox and mounts that will handle it,
I have the motor, the loom, the computer,
I have the fuel pump,
I have the adaptor plate, the flywheel, a different intercooler, the radiator, and everything else needed from the front cut... apart from the clutch's which are on their way.

Yet I only spent around $3200, so where have you got your magic figure of 8k from? Have you been wasting money on unnecessary expensive items?

my car isn't stock, atm it has an 1870cc , which i have got up to around 200km/h.

i have front discs, very stiff kyb shocks all round, h/d sway bars, fat 225 rear tyres and 195's on the front, both wrapped around big steel wheels. soon will be having an adjustable beam fitted. what else do i need ????

technically speaking punch bug a gearbox that will handle it will cost more than your total figure of 3200. that is unless you want to run the car without the peace of mind that it wont break.

Factor in a Rancho if you must, still just over 4k, even so A 2ltr kombi box will hold together no worries, hows your driving? obviously needs some attention.

a 2 litre kombi box would have ratios which are way too low?

im talking albins custom gears .etc

unfortunately im not putting a 2 litre turbo engine into my bug to cruise around at the same speeds as with a 1600cc vw motor.

no attention needed to driving.

im building a street/circuit car...

i suppose the only other thing i can say is this.

you can get a 1916 for 1000 dollars....

you can also get a 1916 for 10,000 dollars.

this is neils for sale thread...vwkid asked for an opinion and i gave it..

no need to show how low you are and make personal attacks for no apparent reason.
