Hey all,
My beetle has had an odour of petrol in it for ages, and the guys at the mech shop cant seem to get rid of it. Any possible explanations?
All help appreciated

Hey Eric hows it going.
I have the same problem in my superbug. Especially when the tank is full. I've checked out all th ebreather hoses and they are tight.
I think it is the rubber seal around the fuel filler kneck to the body letting fumes from under the cap back into the cab. When the tank is full fuel sloshes up to the cap and wets the seal of the cap which you can smell.
Other than that the breather that comes from the expansion tube and is suppose to go to a canister on smog models usually just drops down infront of the passenger foot well. Try lengthening this to below the level of the flook.

A lot of the hoses perish and crack
Especially the one that comes off the 2" feede and joins the tank
