I remember seeing one in Car Trader a couple of years ago for $15000. I personally thought it was a bargain!
It was fully restored and original condition...I'll look for the ad and post.
What's it worth? Start @ $2000 and nagotiate up with the owner I guess...
W😎
Hey Okrasa, If you loose Interest in it, please let me know, as I would be VERY interested in it! Thank you!
Nectar!
Has it got the important parts like front n rear glass n frames, roof bows and mechanism, doors and mechanisms, engine lid with correct slots n W pressing, rear side window n glass n winding mechanisms, rear view mirror to name just a few...
As to what is worth are you buying or selling and how long is a piece of string.
If yr selling i will start at $1000.00 n take a risk
Forgot to mention it will probally cost another 15 to 20K to finish it off properly
Dave Hopefully you mean your after me in the line thats forming!?? As My earlier post has mentioned I am VERY INTERESTED!!!! hehehe
N!
I've been after a swivel rear view mirror for my 61 Karmann cab for some time! They are rare as!
If its got all the important bits then its worth a fair bit.
John Laws sold his oval cab for $42k at auction, but I wouldn't use that as an indicator!
Hard to say what it would be worth in Australia as they were never offically sold. It all depends how bad someone wants it!
Oh! and vent window seals are about $250 each!! and thats WCM
Cheers
Steve
FYI....I saw a '61 cab [damaged I think] listed for the St Leonards Auction in the weekends SMH. Might be able to get a feel on price depending on what this goes for.
Don't know who'd pay $42k for the Golden Tonsils cab, cos I'm sure he'd have the radio superglued to his station.
Squiz....
Unity-28
dont worry yr first Kabs are a NIGHTMARE and good luck I will only take it if no one else wants it ....
and i am sticking my neck out at $1000 as well
The Laws Rivkin saga must have be SHONKY dealing Rivkin musty have owed Laws something so a deal was done.

John Laws cabrio?
anyone know the history of this car?
Important things, do not forget to check out the chassis rails underneath, because you may need to import new ones and then there is the roof. We imported a roof from the states with some bows and a few access and it cost around $3000 and then there was gst. on top of that. We are doing up a Karmann Cabriolet 71 and paid around the $6000 but it was three quarter finished. Good Luck Pam and James

i know of a 53 RHD cab ,sitting since 1988,definatley not for sale though.
was offered 10 grand in 1985 without motor and box
if you need rails for your cabriolet restoration or just about any part to restore a cabriolet , contact George at CLASSIC VW in Sydney on 96384200 , he has just about everything in stock . dont waste time and money importing these items yourself .

I think John laws' one was the last german made kab???? it had soemthing special about it, it might have been a triple white one as well. White interior, exterior paint etc.
If its in parts, i wouldnt want to pay more than a 3000 for it, even if there are heaps of parts. I bet there would be more parts that you'd have to chase, and for a car that was never sold here... Not that i'd not want to have an early karmann kab 🙂

These are all cabs that have sold or been for sale in Unique cars and Just world cars magazines.
