I have a Ghia that I would like to import and register in Victoria. I was wondering if the welded type of lowering spindle is going to be legal. I was also wondering about my front brake rotors. They are Porsche 5-130 pattern. The back of the rotor has only 4 webs, but there are 5 holes...Is this type of rotor ok?

I think you should be okay - but best to check with an engineer beforehand. Most will be happy to give a :thumb as long as all workmanship is to an OE standard, ie no welded hubs, elongated holes etc etc

you will most likely need to give the engineer a certificate from acertified welder, and you still may need to get the spindles x-rayed to check them before they will sign them off.
The rotors and rums will be ok I think, best to use press in studs from behind for safety.

Get hold of Bill Malkoutzis, from Eltham. He is an approved VASS engineer, knows his VW stuff backwards, and very helpfull.

I think it might be easier just to purchase the CB spindles before the car gets shipped...if those are allowed. thanx for the tip on the engineer. I will need to spend quite a bit of time with him before this cars sees rego.

CB ones are no more legal than welded, without the report to say they meet ADR standards.
Is it link pin front with 4 stud conversion (4 stud rotors drilled for 5), or ball joint.
If it is link pin, contact Kim 'Golde60' on here. I did the suspension on his car, and he had to pay to have the cb spindles tested by myself with Bill presesnt, to satisfy the ADR standards. It cost a lot to do, including buying the spindle to test, as cb, or local suppliers have done no such testing. We made a test rig, and tested the spindle compared to the VW item.
If the front end is ball joint, you can buy the CB spindles from CSP, and these come with a TUV approval, similar to our ADR's. Mind you, they are 389euro, as apposed to around $160US!! Again, check with Bill on the TUV.
None of the stores supplying CB in OZ, or the US have done ANY testing, nor will they offer any help!!

Kim owns the test results, and the papers needed for ADR approval.
