Just thought i would post this.
I was looking for a Quaife diff. I asked a couple of Australian VW companies. the only price i received was for $2200 AUD. I gave up as very expensive. Later i came across this site (http://www.palmside.co.nz) and got a price from them. $1670 NZD delivered. this at the time was $1475 AUD delivered.
Moral. shop around and dont get ripped off.

good work mate. do they still sell them and was it for a beetle box or a kombi box? someone should definately look into it, it sounds to be worth it.

They get them from the UK. Ask for deane he is placing an order from Quaife in about a week.

I realise this is a bit off topic but I to am heartily clapped of with aftermarket suppliers extorting gross prices from the specialist car enthusiast and in this instance I am posting a link for a US softop manufacturer who I used after being quoted Aus $2800 for a softop(supply only not fitted) for an Rx7.
I got one delivered made up faultlessly in Stayfast fabric in 9 working days for Aus$849.88 inc delivery.
This may be of some help to the Kharmen Ghia and ragtop people as they seem to make up for just about every softop car ever made.

There is the link, Cheers , Al .

It does not make up for that amount of difference in price, but my understanding is that NZ has less import restrictions, as well as less duties and taxes on imported goods, including cars. Jap import cars are really cheap there.
If you get hit with duty and GST on the diff coming into OZ, the difference will not be so big. If you do, saying its for a race car will get you the lowest duty rate.
Thats a damn good price seeing as they are over $1700au in the states before shipping etc.
