Hey guys, Ive found the numbers on the engine, however there is a tag in the engine bay and would like to know what the numbers mean. Its located left hand side engine bay. Tag reads: 2340310282 and directly below stamped into body is 2352065281. Thanks for any help

Cheers

the tag is an Australian number & realtively useless the stamped number is the chassis number, are you sure you found the engine number, where is it? facing you?

Yeah got the engine number, it was printed ontop of the engine towards the front, AP002878.

I was reading my rego sticker and wanted to see if the numbers matched. In victoria they have my engine number on the sticker and an SN number which i coulnt match, might be a number they allocate. thanks for the info guys.

if the engine number you are reading is on the alloy fan housing its not necessarily the correct number for the case which is a separate part ap=1800cc 66x73 to check the case number you need to be a contorsionist
Don't argue with an idiot; people watching may not be able to tell the difference.

yep the engine number was also stamped on the fan housing, because it is easy to see when you open the lid, however, very few engines have the original fan housiing, you need to stick your head in & look over the back of the fan housing - on the centre line of the engine, between the black lidded breather box, & the fan housing, you will see the real engine number

pop out your rear vision mirror and use it to read the engine number. In any case its pretty irrelevant because anyone who is going to check engine numbers is unlikely to know of its existance. When I went to RTA i planned ahead and took the mirror. When they came out to check the woman just asked me to read it off. What is the point then if you are going to take my word for it? Just take it as what I wrote on the form!
