I have a set of 4 type 3 hubcaps sitting in my garage.

Average condition, some have dings and surface rust. I haven't checked them out lately but should scrub up ok. Not show pieces but would probably be ok for the workshop wall.

These are free to whoever picks them up... or I'll frisbie them into the bin next Friday.

Located in Beechboro, WA.

Cheers

shame you are so far away as someone would want them

but three different hubcaps were used on type 3s...

the early beetle domed hubcaps with clips....

the flat hubcaps, which were NOT used on Beetles in Australia... I think they used the clips too??

and the late model hubcaps as used on Beetles from 1968
these don't have the clips...
just clip onto the wheel...

When were the Bug ones used? From 63 on to about 1968 in OZ the Type 3 hubcaps pushed into the wheel centre and was retained by protrusions into the centre..... no clips. When the 4 studs arrived, the hubcaps pushed over the wheel centre and was retained by outward protrusions. These were the ones used on the Bugs.

Any info on an earlier setup??? There were a few Type 3s getting around in the 60s with Bug wheels on due to damaged Type 3 wheels and the owners had put Bug hubcaps on as the clips on the Bug wheels didn't allow the standard hubcaps to fit.

Anyone with other info ??

I've also seen flatter hubcaps for late (4-stud) type 3's in the US. They look like the Beetle ones but flat, with the VW logo raised.

Going in the bin tomorrow, if you want them you'd better be quick!

FYI these are in better condition than I originally thought, 2 out of the 4 have no dings and the other two have smooth, very minor dents, so they should pop out fine. The surface rust is minor and would come off during cleaning.
