While I was on hols a couple of weeks ago, caught up with a good mate in Mt Tamborine who has this 1940's Studebaker 6wd. It's one mean muva. Don't get in it's way 'cos it don't give a shit.
Where do you start?
Nice dash
How do you lower this ?
Went for cruise down to the bakery early in the morning. Like nothing you've ever been in. Crash box, tin everywhere so there's more noise going on than you can make sense of. Sounds like a space shuttle re-entry. Check the video...you'll get the idea. Doesn't help that he drives the thing like it's an old Mini Cooper S.
damn thats cool.
with the right ramps that could be a great car/parts hauler.
if i had my choice of allied ground vehicles i'd take a universal carrier (aka bren carrier) though.
I looked at one of these years ago, just my love of incredibly ugly vehicles. My father talked me out of it with one sentence.
6 miles to the gallon.
Well my friends are gone & my hair is grey, I ache in the places where I used to play.
That's awsome! :bounce
There's a nice old 1940's Willys traytop truck getting around Jervis Bay... evidently it is the guys daily driver... however at least it runs on LPG so would be slightly more affordable. 👍
I personally would love a Ford Blitz... ugly as a hat full of assholes, but so trucky! 😁
It seems like just about every man and his dog in Tomerong has a Blitz or six sitting on their farm... or a Leyland Panther bus! 😂

From the picture, it looks like that transmission shifting configuration would take a while to get used to!

Yeah that shift pattern is designed so that when you're manouvering, 1st and reverse are adjacent to each other. You prob don't use first too much unless you come to a halt.
mmm thought that might have been the case... still would take a bit of used too tho hehe... wuth 3rd an 4th both being at the back of the gate.... 🤪
But who cares it's a sweet truckster d00d!!! 👍 😎

with all those gearshifts you gotta wonder if he's trying to make up for something....:duh
gotta say though, they don't make em like that anymore. 🙂
How do you lower this ?
mount the axle above the leaf springs instead of below it.
Most people seem normal, till you get to know them.

Bit of trivia for you.
The reason they had the windscreen angled in on the later blitz is so it didn't reflect the sun & give away their positions to aircraft.
Well my friends are gone & my hair is grey, I ache in the places where I used to play.
i want one!
