513 views and 19 replies to date shows that 3.7% gave enough of a shit to reply, 94.3% got on with life....

I suggest those who find it all too much chill out or better still start your own forum. Then you can enforce the rules, do all the stuff that current mods here dont. In fact you could allow all sorts of slander and scuttlebut at your own leisure.

So, I stay, it costs me nothing except to mention when I use suppliers who sponsor AVD to ensure it keeps going, I take the good, survive the bad and get on with my life. Indeed in my life I have to take the good, survive the bad and enjoy myself.

Homage to the moderators..I have no rights...I get the shits but say nothing...You don't like it leave...then the unquestionable statistics.

I remember when the rules idea was first floated. Around 40 of the 2,500 members took an interest in something that would affect EVERYONE.
That's just the Australian psyche. No one gives a rats til it affects them. So your statistics aren't worth sh!t.

When the first draft put up, you had the subservients going "great - brilliant - I have no problem with that"

THEY WERE SH!T, THAT'S WHY THEY WERE CHANGED.

2nd draft went up, same people, same homage.
Well, they were sh!t too. Better, but nowhere near right.

The rules as you see them now, are the third attempt & are the direct result of a handful of members saying;

well it seems that after a few days of posting it is clear that the mojority of voters who care about and use this forum would like ot see 'posts only deleted with an explanation', as the choice of action for unwanted/against the rules posts. this is almost as it is stated in the rules.

now that the personal attacks are starting to flow thru from the few who jsut can not help themselves (and part of the reason why this topic was brought up... , and teh hijacking(which i found out today is not actually against the rules) has begun and encouraged by the same select few.

maybe its time the thread should locked, and lets hope the mods can see the simple point that was being asked and agreed by the majority...

Please rather than delete a whole thread for a few damaging posts, that you either delete the post or the edit. its a fairer option all round.

This aint some sort of "us against them battle", its a free service provided to the majority by a small minority at THEIR cost.
Show some appreciation and stop acting like a spoiled teenager demanding there rights. This is a privatley owned and run service where your rights and responsabilities are clearly outlined.
Either follow the rules or live with whatever decicion is made if you dont. Its been said before like it or lump it. It aint a federal election, it aint a club, its a privatley run internet forum.
If the rules are so shit, and the heirachy so corrupt, too bad for you, get over it, grab a beer and chillax, maybe go attack the samba or something.

Okay - Wes (twoguns) has specifically asked for this thread to be locked as per his post above.

Please note - this is not a decision by a MODERATOR - it is a request from a MEMBER. Since Wes started the thread I feel he has the right to ask for it to be locked.

We are damned if we do and damned if we don't (as moderators).

On a side note, spook and twoguns and any others with relevant input.....how about you please start the suggestions for a revision of the board rules to specifically, consicely and accurately reflect your (and other members') desire to have threads left standing, but individual posts edited (remember Andrew has given the technical reason they can't be 'deleted').

I don't know if it is even feasible to change them but I am sick of this discussion going around in circles - we have now established that many people don't want entire threads removed.....so now is the time to have it worded specifically in the rules so everyone knows where they stand (mods and members).
