In desperate need of the white plastic gromit type bush that goes on the end of the steering columb.
It stops the steering shaft from flopping around in the steering columb.
WIll take 1 from any state, but would preffer some one close (Brisbane) so i can just pick it up.
Needed asap so i can put the shaft and columb back on the car to take to the paint shop.

contact me (JACE)
on 0402270727 or send me a U2U and i will contact you.
cheers Jace

They were out of a late 74 so they are the smaller shaft.

Hi

I had this same excessive play in the steering column in 74 L. You can buy the whole top bearing (they are expensive) which includes the plastic bit. My bearing was perfect so I just slipped some very slim plastic sheet that I had lying around between the bearing and the shaft. The play is gone but I haven't driven the car much, so I'm not sure if it will stay in place. Maybe some plastic from a business shirt box would do.

hey thanks..seems we cannot buy them new, just buy themselves. i have one quote of $70 for a second hand one or another quote for $120 for the whole steering wheel columb. Or one of the guys said that we can try to make one ourselves out of some form of plastic, as he has done that because it is hard to find them..

Hi

The long white piece in Barry's picture is a spacer, the sleeve I'm talking about fits between the bearing and the shaft. I have some more of the plastic I used, if you like I can post some up.
