its a sad thing when you car is neither nice enough to win anything, nor crap enough get the wooden spoon. sigh.
whats with the paint work on your roof by the way??
.
all the cool kids have bubbling clear coat....didnt u know that?
the blue bug was pretty low but i doubt it was airbagged, i didnt have a properlook i was more interested in getting into the pub.

our family had a good time & will travel 600 k's again as before for this,we love the long convoy but 110 k's to keep up the first halve of the convoy not again
(wifes splitty engine seal leaking) & to get there & have to park running up the drives not again as well (first time i seen businesses take up so many car spots)

Congrats must go to BLBVW once again for a great day.
Although I considered not commenting on the running and the event as such that would be out of character for me....
I think some people are looking at it all wrong....... yep .. I recon lining up and waiting and cars everywhere and having them packed in to the car park is all part of the event. You think back a few years and people are still talking about the rain, the wait, the traffic etc but no one really remembers who won what class etc. It really is part of what Dubs has become.
As for judging who cares .. every system is flawed if you don't win. Dubs uses "The Public" .. that is like herding cats. Action day uses " Judges" and that is more than suspect most years.. I could go on but I think you get my point. No matter what happens Dubs has always been a gathering of VW enthusiasts and hopefully always will be. Some people want trophies, some people want bargains, some people just want to turn up and have a great day.
Car of the day is the car which the most people vote for ... yeah ??? well in this case that is who won.. The car who the most people voted for. If you can find it written in the rules that it has to be the best and the most shiny then feel free to show me ... BUT it isn't. If Tim’s baja won cause it got the most votes then so be it, by definition it is car of the day. I am sure he put a lot of hours into it.
Anyway that is my two bobs worth, I think it is great and it is what it is. Lets not try and change things to please a few. If they think they can do better then they should get off their ass and start there own utopia car show ….. it ain’t gunna happen the only change would be that they wouldn’t be the ones winging ……

maybe a thought would be to move the offroaders ( bajas and buggies) up unto the grassed area ( the are offroaders) and compact the trade area a lil bit becouse it was very spread out and took up lots of room. this way there would be more parkign places on the bitumen for the roaders and more space for the offroaders , just a thought but it might help with the over population of cars 🙂
great day though big congrats to all the winners and fellas that put in the hard work organising a day for ua to all go out and have a good day 🙂
Love is a Rotary baja bug
Just be carefull

hey hey hey my Doc says the ears will stop ringing in a few days but I should avoid squares or run the risk of permanent damage.🤪
Made it back without falling asleep at the wheel.... travelling to work this morning was a different story. I had a few consecutive microsleeps at traffic lights. Luckily I broke out of it before the auto gearbox drove into the back of the car in front.
I had a good time all round. Nothing screams out like 'VW EVENT' when you take 3 steps out the front door of the airport and slide under a kombi (with a white t shirt) and bodge up a shift coupling with nothing but a 10 mm nut, 1/2 roll of leccy tape and a bit of tie wire. That was gold.
I cant complain about the BBQ Charcoaled Creations as I think 90% of that was my doing... thats probably the real reason behind Penguins 'hangover'. :puke Playstation with Max was fine. I needed a wind down and he is pretty darn cool. I was the coolest Dad this morning when my Emily got her present. Who says you can buy love.
Thanks for the hospitality, lots of laughs. I'll repay the favour when you all want to come down to Sindney. We can book a cheap filthy sleazy motel room with a sticky floor for the Nationals.
someone (and we wont mention names) was trying to offload a set of LH golf clubs as RH ones... people will sell anything these days lol

And who was the legend in the baja who went offroad and got bogged in front of 300+ other dubbers???? Priceless moit :thumb
he didn't only get bogged, he apparently crashed into a tree...

pix's taken from bruce highway, the baja was on the logging roads running parellel

😂
apparently he hit the puddle a wee bit too fast and did a 360.. into the bank
😂
I wont mention any names, but its the same guy who owned the wild green Baja Bus with the murals on the side.....he did the same thing in the Baja Bus a few years ago, but didnt crash.......:P

Tim, although you have started using punctuation in your posts (there is one full stop), I still have great trouble reading and understanding what the hell your saying 🙂
I think the Baja's and buggies should have to park in the drainage ditch to make room in the car park for the street cars. That way if you get stuck, you shouldn't be parking with the offroaders anyway 🙂

Yeah well I know what I'm on about and I know I'm not good at writing, but I'm a trimmer not a English teacher.
Parking in the drain for offroaders; thats one off the best ideas I have ever heard. I think some people get mixed up with the idea of a offroad car...
